The choice of yarn is completely up to you. Combine small leftovers, even in different colors, and be amazed by the wonderful result.

Make sure the yarn weights are approximately the same. If the yarns are too thick, you should adjust the needle size.

This way, you can remember all your projects and bring them together. You will notice that you have a preference for certain colors and that they appear particularly often.

You begin with three strands and size 3.5 mm needles: one strand of Merino by Knitting for Olive and two strands of leftover yarn.

You knit a 3-stitch I-cord edge, which means the first three stitches of every row are always knitted, and the last three stitches of every row are always slipped with the yarn in front of the work.

The basic pattern is:

Right-side row: alternate 1 purl stitch and 1 knit stitch (increases are incorporated appropriately)

Wrong-side row: knit all stitches

You make the increase every 8th row (= wrong-side row); here, knit 3 stitches (I-cord), increase 1 stitch from the strand between the stitches, knit until three stitches before the end of the row, then slip these with the yarn in front of the work.

The pattern is super easy, works up quickly, and will delight you because it looks beautiful on both sides.

With the Remember Me Shawl, the transitions between the individual yarns are particularly special. One main color (Merino by Knitting for Olive) is knitted throughout. Here, you can choose a color that matches the color palette of your leftovers. I chose a light shade (powder).

Make sure to change the colors of the leftover yarns in sequence wherever possible to create a particularly beautiful transition.

Here, you can simply knit the next color together with the current one shortly before the end of one yarn. It’s best to knit about 10 stitches with both colors (that means 4 strands in total). Then you can remove the old color. 

As a little special touch, I left the threads sticking out about 2 cm from the knitted piece, so you can still look at them individually. If you like, you can also trim them close.

The protruding threads particularly emphasize the different colors. I really like that I can still see them individually this way.
